Like an artist, we have many program too. Specially English program during we are in Pare.
Every morning we wake up at 4 a.m. We always begin our days with pray, reading the Holy Qur’an & al ma’tsurat. Then we must queue to take a bath, because in our homestay there are just 2 bathroom with 14 people.
Usually we have took a bath, got dress, and prepared at 6 am, we had breakfast as soon as, because first class will be began at 6.30 a.m. we take English course at BEC (Basic English Courses), which the oldest one in Pare.
On one day we get 4 english class. The first class is Grammar class with Mrs Anis at 6.30 until 8.00 a.m. then second class is New Concept Class with Mr Fah until 9.30 a.m. after that we may take a rest for 30 minutes. Usually some of us buy some food and drink, pray dhuha or just chatting to remember about the lesson before. We must be in class room at 10.00 a.m to speaking class with Mrs Sri. We must speak in english during the class, you know?
After we had pray dhuhur and lunch, we have long time to do something. We can spend our time to watching film, watching TV, discussion, doing our assignment, browsing, going to minimarket, or go around Pare by bicycle.
After we do something until 5 o’clock, we take a bath and prepare to pray maghrib and isya. We have dinner as soon as because we must be in class again to join Speaking class with Mr Hadi at 7.30 p.m. Mr Hadi often gives us games on the lesson so that we aren’t bored. For example at first meeting we got game called concentrate game, we must memorize some word with moving hand. Most of us felt difficult to be concentrate. At second meeting we got game called chain words. We must make a word which first character is the last character from the word before. We began with word “stingy” then we continue with word “yellow” etc.
At 21.00 p.m we back to the homestay. Usually we go to sleep directly, or sometimes we remember the lesson, or add vocabularies, or watching film, or other activities before we go to sleep.
In fact, all of our teachers are BEC graduate. Subhanallah…we are always on full spirit to learning English. We are so happy in here.
As long as, we got funny idioms from our teachers. Such as ” I’m in fire” ( saya bersemangat), “my life on the bubble” (aku sedang dalam masalah), “so far so good” (baik-baik aja), etc. you know that in American culture or in western cultures, if we sneeze (bersin), hiccup (cegukan), burp (sendawa), blow nose (membuang ingus) we must say “sorry”. One other important thing, we must remember it about “cut a cheese”, this is idiom too. We may not translate it word by word. Do you know what the meaning?it’s so funny….but it’s secret, hehehe…you can get the meaning from your dictionary, just searching by yourself!
Wow! you guys have pretty tight schedule there.
